Food For The Soul

After some major life events in Marie Foster's life, she decides to give people a place they could come to and seek help in their time of need. She found that her community in Raleigh, NC needed a place to feed people that wouldn't be able to eat any other way and those that just needed a simple home-cooked meal. Marie soon realized that people need more than food, they need love and safety more than any soup kitchen she had ever heard of. Marie was on a mission to provide the things that her community needed and it showed. The community quickly saw what she was doing and named her place "Food For The Soul", a place where the forgotten were treated like royalty. Since there was great need for what she was doing, and she was working mainly alone with a few people helping here and there, her time spent at Food for the Soul increased on any giving day.
Taking time from her three kids and her husband was the biggest regret of her life, because shortly after two years of Marie's opening, her husband got a new job out of state and forced her to make a choice. She chose to stay and finish what she started. He divorced her and took her kids and never looked back.

You have picked a good day to visit Food for the Soul, because, after 30 years, Food For the Soul will feel the loss of Mrs. Foster. Everyone wanted to come and pay their respects for a woman that has worked so hard for community that she lived in. Things get kind of crazy when the youngest daughter invites her siblings to the event without them knowing. In this interactive Dinner Theater you will enjoy the sounds, smells and smiles that Food For The Soul will have on you

11/05/2016 Halfway House in gospel stage play presented by ISTA Productions

Halfway House of Gospel
the stage play doors open at 5:30 p.m. show starts at 6 p.m
Smith Temple Freewill Baptist Church
322 South East Street
Raleigh North Carolina 27601
There is a moment in your life when you decide that you need to make a change. Sometimes we come to that conclusion on our own, and other times the choice is made for us. There are some bad habits that we can stop without any help, but most are not that easy. The hard work begins when you check yourself into rehab and start learning how to think and act differently, during treatment. When you manage to complete your stay, then what? Where do you go? What do you do? Should you really go back to the same life you had? Of course not! You are most likely going to return to rehab if faced with that as an option, therefore you need a time to adjust between treatment and the new life you will plan for yourself, which is why you enter
“The Halfway House of Gospel”.

EJ Joyner’s career was built on the foundation of his extensive knowledge of addiction and the effects it can have on one person’s life. She found her way by using the Word of God and wanted to give others the chance to walk her same path. After being a community counselor at the local outreach center, EJ found it hard helping people when they were going back to the same life that put them in rehab, so she started her very own halfway house. Not any old place, but one that is filled with the spirit of God and the support of the rehab, but the function of a standard halfway house.

Join EJ and his assistant, Carl, as they open the doors for the first time on September 10, 2016 and welcome in six new faces into their home and helps them transition back into the community. The road will be tough, but as EJ says, “we will bend, but never break.”
